Samsung released its latest handset Samsung Omnia Lite which runs with Windows Mobile 6.5, the new Microsoft operating system. It is a 103 gm mobile with dimensions constituting 107 x 51.8 x 12.9 mm. Samsung Omnia Lite has a resistive touch screen with 65 K colors. This 3 inches smart phone comes with display resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. The phone is loaded with Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate. Alert types includes Vibration, downloadable polyphonic, MP3 and WAV ringtones.

The phonebook is capable of storing unlimited entries and fields and it allows the user to enjoy photo call. The internal memory forms 250 MB.There is a micro sd card slot and the memory is expandable up to 32 GB.The data network and connectivity has GPRS/EDGE/3G and 2G .This slim 3G touch screen phone is equipped with HSDPA, Wi-Fi and GPS.The phone has many attractive features like 3G support, which allow voice and non-voice data to be transferred to and from user’s phone at high speeds. Wifi helps to browse the web and email with no extra cost.

The 3.2-megapixel camera on the back lacks flash, but comes with autofocus.It allows the user to get excellent shots at every click through Geo-tagging and smile detection features. Video streaming lets the user feed video from internet to phone. Message channels supported include SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, and Push Email. This new handset is enriched with many entertaining features like Stereo FM radio with RDS and FM recording. There are predownloaded games and the user can add on more to it. Samsung Omnia Lite Standard, Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery which delivers a talk time of 9 hours and standby for 650 hours. It is a slim, compact high tech budget phone.

Fairly low price tag; good range of features and light weight are its key positive sides. Average camera, slow to respond, not enough finger space on some options forms the flip side of this new handset. It is available in three colors Black, blue, and red. It is priced around Rs. 17,560/- in the Indian market.
