Five interesting models were announced recently by Motorola, quite confusing too as they have little to differentiate and by naming too. They are designed for developing markets like India. Motorola WX 290 is one among it. However all the mobiles are targeted to the lower end high volume consumers. Regarding the features of Motorola WX 290, it has all basic multimedia stuff like VGA Camera, video recording at 640 x 480 pixels, FM Radio, music player, MP3 and 32 polyphonic ( 64 ) ring tones and so on. But the striking feature is the memory card, surprisingly for this price, Motorola WX 290 is offering a micro SD card up to 2 GB.

Motorola WX 290 has got a dimension of 107.6* 45.3* 14.3 mm at 1.77” display screen with a resolution of 128×160 pixels. The mobile includes a camera and VGA video call facility at 640* 480 pixel resolution. On its memory capabilities, this model can store up to 800 contact data and sufficient amount of call logs. If we look at the multimedia system with in the phone, the music player equipped in the handset support all popular audio and video formats and you can enjoy stereo FM radio with RDS features. Audio playback supports MP3, AMR, MIDI, MHF and it also support video playback option at 3GPP. Data can be transferred from Motorola WX 290 with the help of Bluetooth V2.0 and it has got WAP 2.0/x HTML browser. To round up the features of Motorola WX 290, the mobile has all the common features such as SMS, MMS, games, calendar, alarm clock and calculator.

Motorola WX 290 phone has a relatively higher power batter of Li-ion 750 mAh which can provide talk time up to 8 hours and standby time of 580 hours. Again Motorola seems to be hitting the right nerve as far as pricing is concerned. Motorola WX 290 is made affordable to all average Indian Citizen with a price of just Rs 2,149/-.
