Motorola is targeting lower end high volume consumers in the fast growing Indian market. Motorola announced six new entry level devices as part of their popular WX range. The budgeted handset namely Motorola WX 181is the first handset among the WX series. The new phone will attract consumers who would like to have mid end features at a cheaper price. The candy bar handset with a size of 108* 46* 14.8 mm has a resolution of 128* 128 pixels and a 1.45 inch, CSTN 65K colour display.

Motorola WX 181 on the entertainment side has got features like Stereo FM radio with RDS and games etc which can add more colures to the budgeted handset. Motorola WX 181 model has an internal storage capacity to hold around 100 phone book entries and about 140 SMS messages at one point of time. With Polyphonic ring tones you can get loud and clear alerts. The mobile has got the other basic features like Flash light, games, calculator, alarm, calendar and currency converter. One of the drawback of the handset is that it doest not have a camera and also do not support Bluetooth or Infrared facility. Hence Motorola WX 181 is limited in use as a business phone. Motorola WX181 supports GSM 900 / 1800, GSM 850 / 1900 2G Networks.

Motorola WX 181 has got a standard battery of 750 mAh with a talk time of up to 6 hours and a stand by time of 580 Hours. According to company source Motorola WX 181 is expected to increase company’s reach to a large cross section of the lower end consumers. Inspite of these short comings price of the mobile is a striking factor. This candy bar designed mobile phone comes in solid black body. Motorola WX 181 is made affordable to all average Indian citizen with a price tag of Rs 1,500/.
