Motorola is changing its usual way of pricing high end phones at a premium price. Everyone is now tapping the lower end high volume market and Motorola too doesn’t look like backing out from that race. The company has unveiled two new very simple handsets, Motorola WX 181 and Motorola WX 161. These phones are basically targeted at the low end customers and therefore the handset does not include any luxury features. The candy bar handset, WX 161, has a dimension of 108* 46* 14.8 mm along with a resolution of 96* 64 pixels and 1.3 inches colour display. Motorola WX 161 is a simple handset having a monochrome display which is not usually available in the latest handsets.

Motorola WX 161 has an inbuilt MP3 player and FM radio with RDS. The internal memory capacity of the handset is limited to 10 MB and this will limit the users to store more songs in the play list. WX 161 can store up to 100 phonebook entries and about 140 SMS messages at one point of time. Motorola WX 161 operates at a frequency of GSM 900/ 1800 MHz. The phone offer Moto’s crystal talk technology and thus gives more sound clarity to the handset. The basic features of the mobile include torch light, alarm, calculator, calendar, currency converters etc. Motorola WX 161 has got polyphonic ring tone with speaker and it is supplied with headset to enjoy music. Motorola WX 161 does not support camera or any multimedia application and thus the phone is limited in use as a business phone.

Motorola WX 161 is available in Black and White colour and it has got a standard Li-ion battery of 750 mAh which provide a talk time up to 8 hours and standby time up to 580 hours.  The handset id made available to all average people with a price tag of Rs 1,500/- only.
